Guildenstern: Our names shouted in a certain dawn...a message...a summons...There must have been a moment where we could have said no. But somehow we missed it. Rosen-? Guil-? Well, we'll know better next time. Now you see me, now you- -Tom Stoppard, R&G Are Dead

    I Hear You Knocking Down My Door...

    I Think I'm Cured...

    :: Saturday, February 12, 2011 ::

    I've been thinking a lot about what I'm going to do in the future. Well, I mean, more than normal because that's basically all I've been doing since I graduated. That and becoming increasingly bitter, jaded, and cynical. I think I'm going to try my hardest to become a teacher. I qualify for lateral entry so the next step is contacting CMS (Or some other school system -- maybe Asheville or Chapel Hill's) and figuring out how to get started. I need to be hired as a teacher first and then that get the whole thing started. In the end, it's what I keep coming back to. All other options involve me continuing to try and get hired despite not having the right qualifications because I chose to go to a stupid fucking school.

    Something else I've entertained is starting another blog. This one would be more of a professional blog instead of whatever the hell this is. I want to focus it on design critique especially emphasizing video games. It might sound like this is limiting, but I've found myself realizing how many comparisons you can draw and what clear influence the designers had. I look at something like World of Warcraft, a game that sucked me in because of how amazing the environment was, and half the time I'm playing I can't get over how amazing the design is. I ran around Ulduar for an hour after our raid disbanded taking screenshots. I think of something like Ocarina of Time where, even as a kid, I was totally in awe of the dungeon design -- stuff like the Forest Temple and Spirit Temple blew my mind. I don't know what I'd call it, but it'd be an outlet to talk about shit I'm impressed and inspired by.

    I keep wondering if I lean on WoW as a crutch too much. It's nice to go in to a fantasy environment every so often and just escape from everything that's been bothering me for the past few months.

    I've been playing the shit out of some dubstep lately. Burial is far and away my favorite, but I've liked him for a few years now. It's just been recently that I started exploring other artists. Other favorite artits/songs right now include:

    King Midas Sound, "Meltdown"
    Chasing Shadows, "Amirah"
    ediT, "More Lazers"
    Example, "Last Ones Standing"
    Skrillex, "Slats slats slats"
    The Qemists, "Dem Na Like Me"

    Had a big blowout with my parents the other week and it's been difficult for me to be the same around them. I need to get out of here.

    I'd love to hear from Michael, or Lillian, or Brittany. Someone.
