Guildenstern: Our names shouted in a certain dawn...a message...a summons...There must have been a moment where we could have said no. But somehow we missed it. Rosen-? Guil-? Well, we'll know better next time. Now you see me, now you- -Tom Stoppard, R&G Are Dead

I Hear You Knocking Down My Door...

    I Think I'm Cured...

You're not my savior but I still want more :: Thursday, July 29, 2004 ::

So. Okay, the past few days were awful. I don't know why, but I just finally caved in. In any case, last night, I just did an entry on my LiveJournal where I made some definitive choices and since then, everything has been great. I feel like I'm finally just taking control and that's good.

Blazed through much of The Great Gatsby today in my efforts to reread it. My God, it's so much nicer to read an AP English book without the impending doom of a MWDS hanging over your head. Makes me want to go reread all the books we read this year, not that I have enough time to do that, or anything.

Side Note: My condolences to those unfortunate few who have not yet started either Wise Blood or One Hundred Years Of Solitude. It's going to be a rough next three weeks if this is the case for you.

I went to the library to get some books for the beach before I leave on tuesday. Checked out the mammoth Underworld by a one Don DeLillo, author of only the best book you'll read in AP English in eleventh grade. It's about 800 pages, so that should get me through the beach. I was looking for some David Foster Wallace as I've had this fascination with him ever since that one essay Whiteside put in the course pack, but why should my branch of the library have anything worthwhile? I also got a book of Faulkner short stories. So I'm set.

I really need to force myself to start MWDSing One Hundred Years Of Solitude. That characters section is NOT going to be pretty. Can you imagine doing the Attitude Towards Major Characters section on One Hundred Years Of Solitude? That gives me chills just thinking about it.

The Village comes out tomorrow! I can't wait to see it! Of course, who I see it with depends on what nights people are available. I might ask Heidi since I've only seen her once so far this summer. Who knows.

Anybody else been absolutely addicted to the DNC? I mean, this thing has been my crack for the past few nights. And can I just say Bill Clinton's speech displayed some of the best rhetoric and style I think I have ever seen?

Alrighty then. I've actually got a lot to do before the beach. Possibly seeing West Side Story, The Village, finishing those damn files for my dad...ah, well, anyways.

One final note: Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind comes out two days after my birthday. If someone would be so gracious as to purchase this masterful piece of cinema for me as a gift so I won't have to spend any possible gift card money I may receive on it, I would love you forever. Two fucking days. Damn. Couldn't have come out the week before, huh?! Eh, why am I complaining; the movie is coming out in a about two months, and that is cause for celebration (Hopefully I just won't sob through it this time)

Current Mood: My rare mood where I could just jump around my room to music...much like that Honors A exercise...only not as panic attack inducing
Current Music: Paul Simon - I Know What I Know
