Guildenstern: Our names shouted in a certain dawn...a message...a summons...There must have been a moment where we could have said no. But somehow we missed it. Rosen-? Guil-? Well, we'll know better next time. Now you see me, now you- -Tom Stoppard, R&G Are Dead

    I Hear You Knocking Down My Door...

    I Think I'm Cured...

    I found that I, for a moment, had slipped away :: Tuesday, March 30, 2004 ::

    I fucking love White Noise. It's just...ah. I love it! No, not because it came after Faulkner and is almost the complete polar opposite of Faulkner's style in Absalom, Absalom! but because it's unbelievably good. It's like if you took Huxley and Coupland and made them one person, the result would be DeLillo. Seriously, there's like five other quotes I highlighted in my copy of the book that have nothing to do with the MWDS just stuff that I liked and wanted to remember. READ THIS BOOK. It's SO good. I'm actually enjoying MWDSing the book!

    Speaking of MWDSing, my brother decides he has to practice his drums as I'm working on that. I tell him don't even think about it (Since the drums are right outside the office) and he simply smiles and plays. So I turn my computer up on full volume and blast out 2+2=5 and simply glare at him while he plays on.

    Today was nice. I simply laughed and pitied the people who tried to debate Whitesides argument against gravity since I have been in the thick of a debate with Whiteside and know that there is no way you can win (And that frustrated me, too, because it so obviously was not a documentary and every single piece of evidence I had just got thrown back at me). It was funny how both Katie and I (The two who pretty much were screaming at Whiteside during the Zelig class) both said we were not even going to get involved. But...I really liked Whiteside's argument. It's kind of like Heinrich, from White Noise. I love Heinrich. I love how he can find the exact opposite of what he's supposed to believe, such as with the rain. He is probably my favorite character in any of the books for English AP this year just because he constantly questions things and manages to find some pretty odd explanations but is able to completely defend him. He runs circles around Jack when he states that rain really isn't rain.

    I love all of the kids in White Noise. I love what Heinrich, Denise, Steffie and Wilder each stand for. It's like DeLillo took the media's effect on all citizens and split it up into four different groups and based the four kids off of those groups. I LOVE IT!!! I love how Wilder never talks throughout the book. I love how Steffie and Denise both are this naive, innocent character. I love Heinrich's mind. I love them all!

    Okay, enough gushing about White Noise. It's just...it's so fucking awesome. I can understand why people would hate it, but I think this is an unbelievably good book. Really, really good.
