Guildenstern: Our names shouted in a certain dawn...a message...a summons...There must have been a moment where we could have said no. But somehow we missed it. Rosen-? Guil-? Well, we'll know better next time. Now you see me, now you-

Saw it all and I can't deny it's a hard life livin' a lie

Okay, so...last night I was in a depressed/blown off/whatever the fuck it was mood...and now....I'm fine.
I think.
We'll see tomorrow morning.
Just finished watching Lost In Translation, which was really, really, really good. I need to post my Top Ten of 2003 at some point, but I have still yet to see some of the movies I want to, like In America, Thirteen and Swimming Pool. Ah...what the hell. I'll never see them, so, here is my Top Ten for 2003 (May be updated later should I see some of the preceding movies)
Top Ten Movies of 2003
1. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King: Quite awesome. A nice conclusion to a phenomanal trilogy. There isn't much I can say that nobody can know. Watch the movie. Then you'll know how good it is.
2. Lost In Translation: Plot? Who needs it. Instead, we get really good performances from Bill Murray and Scarlett Johanson (If have no clue if I spelled that right). A very good thinking movie, in terms of just...it's like Road To Perdition...the movie itself might be merely okay, but it's like watching a movie painting or photograph. It was really good.
3. Finding Nemo: Ah, how beautiful. The animation really completed this movie because it looked like you were actually underwater. The art seemed a bit blurry, and that added to the realistic-ness of the movie. Apart from being funny and dramatic (And having Thomas Newman compose the score [Which should win the Oscar this year, though Newman never wins, and never will. Kind of like his cousin, Randy Newman]) I laughed, I almost cried, I...danced a merry jig. It was really awesome
4. House of Sand and Fog: Guh. The award for the most depressing movie of the year goes to this one, and it deserves it. There is no happy ending. Everyone either dies, gets arrested or denies that the house they have been fighting for THE ENTIRE MOVIE isn't theirs. But, otherwise, this movie was awesome. I might be the only one pulling for Shoreh Aghdashloo to win Best Supporting Actress, but, as far as I am concerned, she deserves it.
5. Kill Bill, Vol. 1: Nothing like a blood spraying melee...especially when I wanted to go one myself at the time I saw this (Particulary during Macbeth rehearsal...but then John, Mike and Jennifer would be dead, and that would be a tragedy)
6. Mystic River: I don't think it's as good as everyone has made it out to be, however, it still was really good. The only reason I say I don't think it was as good as it was made out to be is because I wasn't really into it until Jimmy confronts Dave outside the bar and Brendan confronts his brother. That's when the suspense really kicked in and I felt like the story was moving. Otherwise, Clint Eastwood did a great job in building up the tension and whatnot to result in those two scenes. A great ensemble, as well.
7. A Mighty Wind: SO happy this got an Oscar Nomination, regardless of how small it was. The ending where Mitch kisses Mickey was so sweet, too. Anyways, probably the funniest movie of the year, and Christopher Guest is truly a comic genius. And he always will be.
8. Monster: This movie could have failed in so many ways, but I think it's mainly due to Charlize Theron's performance that this film has gotten so many great reviews. She was amazing in this movie purely because she managed to make me feel sorry for Aileen and view the people trying to capture her as the bad guy, because Aileen was evil, and so to make me feel pity for someone like her...that's good acting.
9. Big Fish: This may have affected me more than it would have if the relationship between my dad and I wasn't complete and utter crap. It was nice how the stories kind of weaved together and how nonsensical it all was. And how Jessica Lange was hotter than Allison Lohman *cough*
10. Bend It Like Beckham: I have no clue why I liked this movie as much as I did, because it's all about Girl Power! and such. But I thought it was really well acted and written, and hilarious, as well. And it made me wistful for England *Sigh*
