Guildenstern: Our names shouted in a certain dawn...a message...a summons...There must have been a moment where we could have said no. But somehow we missed it. Rosen-? Guil-? Well, we'll know better next time. Now you see me, now you- -Tom Stoppard, R&G Are Dead

    I Think I'm Cured...

    :: Tuesday, September 30, 2003 ::

Interesting survey that I happened upon while online:

    1. Which book are you currently reading?
Since i just finished Huck Finn, I'm currently trying to read Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpara Lahiri

    2. What book did you read last?
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

    3. What book are you planning on reading next?
Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison and City of Glass by Douglas Coupland

    4. Do you own most of the books you read, or do you borrow them from a library?
I own mine. If I want to reread a book, it's far more convenient

    5. Who was your favourite author when you were a child?
Roald Dahl. Matilda is still one of my favorite books. He was the first author that really made me want to do something in that field

    6. What were some of your favourite books when you were a child?
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
The Stinky Cheese Man by John Szceika
Matilda and The BFG by Roald Dahl

    7. Which literary character would you like to take out on a date and why?
    Hmm...probably Karla from Microserfs

    8. Which author would you most like to have a 'one-to-one' with?
Douglas Coupland...PURELY so I can steal his ideas. it'd be nothing more than we sit down, have dinner, I force him to tell me his plots, and then I steal them

    9. Which fictional character would you most like to have a 'one-to-one' with?
Holden Caulfield, so I can beat him over the head with a sledgehammer

    10. Which literary character would you least like to be stranded on a desert island with and why?
Holden Caulfield because I'd kill myself

    11. Which character would you most like to be stranded with?
Any of the guys from Microserfs...they seem pretty adaptable, specifically Dan. Also, Wade from All Families Are Psychotic as he seems to be the most real out of Coupland's novels

    12. In which literary/fictional location would you most like to live?
As weird as it may seem, Dan's parents house in Microserfs. Narnia or Hogwarts would be pretty cool as well

    13. Which is the best TV/film adaptation of a book you have seen? Why?
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers because it is the only movie that litterally left me on the edge of my seat going "Nooo!!! I can't wait one year" when the credits started to roll

    14. Which is worst TV/film adaption of a book you have seen? Why?
Hmm...Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I don't really need to explain why. It was horrible

    15. What film adaption do you actually like more than the book?
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring because the book was a little slow and drab at points
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory because the book required so much visualizing that the movie kind of cleared it up for you

    16. What book do you like better than the film adaption?
Just about all of them are better than the movie

    17. What are your top 5 favourite books?
    1. The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin
    2. Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
    3. Dracula by Bram Stoker
    4. Microserfs by Douglas Coupland
    5. The Autobiography of King Henry VIII

    18. Who is your favourite author?
    Douglas Coupland

    19. What is the most memorable line delivered in a film?
    "I see dead people"

    20. What is your least favourite book and why?
Let's see...it would have to be the books I've wanted to burn...so The Shipping News, The Catcher in the Rye and The House of Seven gables

    21. If your life was a book, which author would you choose to write it?
    Douglas Coupland
