So...Seabiscuit was good. I don't think the Oscar buzz is going to work. It was good, but it won't get nominated, nor should it be nominated unless every film for the rest of the year falters. even then, there are still five movies I liked better than Seabiscuit. In any case, the things I liked/didn't like about Seabiscuit:

-Tobey Maguire's Hair: Obviously dyed, and very distracting
-Tobey Maguire's Mouth: Where the problem in Spiderman was getting Maguire to open his mouth, the problem here is getting him to shut it. He has that stupid slackjawed face the entire movie.
-Elizabeth Banks: Is she mexican? Is she English? Can she have a line with more than five words?
-Chris Cooper: This man deserves an Oscar whenever he so much as blinks on screen
-The constant interuption of those black-and-white pictures: It's one thing to give an introduction to the current times surrounding Seabiscuit. It's another thing to keep reminding us with a narrator that is never made clear.
-The direction: Amazing, to say the least
-The cinematography: Mostly good, but sometimes it felt choppy.


So, overall, I'd say I'd give this movie a B+, Highly reccomended if you can spare three hours.
